Sunday with Lauren

After church on Sunday we went over to Kristin's to stay with Lauren while they went to church. My mom has been doing this for the last month or two since Lauren's health isn't quite good enough to withstand all of the Nursery bugs. She is well past the half-way point on her chemo though! I also got to spend the evening with the Lindbergs (and forgot to take any pictures!) We had a delicious meal mostly prepared fresh from Lisa's garden. It was SOOO delicious and fun to see everyone. It's weird that Lance will have gone an entire year without seeing his family as he won't be able to go home until Christmas :(

Cousins

Here are the 3 cousins again: Eli (6 months), Isaac (7 months) and Courtney (9 months). Don't you see the family resemblance? ;)

Kohl's Baptism

I was lucky enough to be in town for Kohl's baptism. He has been talking about being baptized since the calendar changed to 2010. Congratulations Kohl!

Lake Mary

I have enjoyed my trip to Utah. I flew in Wednesday and hit the zoo, worked a shift on Thursday while my mom babysat Isaac (who was a stinker and wouldn't take a bottle for most of the day). Then Friday we drove up Big Cottonwood Canyon and hiked to Lake Mary. It was mostly empty, but it was so nice to be up in the mountains again! I miss the smell, the cool crisp air, and riding my bike down (and up) the canyon. We made a bit of a detour and drove over Guardsman down into Park City, then took Parley's Canyon until the exit for Emigration Canyon and went up and over and had lunch at Ruth's diner. I love their mile-high biscuits (I hate to say it, but they put the Loveless Cafe biscuits to shame...Lance has a different opinion.) Isaac was surprisingly a perfect angel the whole day. It was a blast!

Hogle Zoo

Isaac and I made our quarterly pilgrimage to the homeland this week. We (me, Isaac, and my mom) went straight from the airport to my sister Kristin's house, then made our way over to Hogle Zoo for the afternoon. I hadn't been there in ages, but enjoyed leisurely wandering around the zoo with the kids.

Isaac was all tuckered out from our early morning. I wouldn't have minded taking a nap, too, since we got up at 5 am to catch our flight. (And unfortunately Isaac has still been getting up in the 4 o'clock hour almost every day due to the time difference!!)

Brady on the carousel...it was sure hard to get a shot of them because it was moving too fast for my slow camera.

August and the Loveless Cafe

I love these jammies...

Seriously, I can't leave him anywhere without him leaving a spit-up trail. I set him on the floor while I worked on the computer and suddenly my foot felt warm...he had spit up in my shoe while I was still wearing it...gross.

The infamous Loveless Cafe (or at least infamous in the state of Tennessee). We enjoyed their legendary biscuits and homemade jams and jellies. I tried their fried chicken, carmel sweet potatoes, and fried okra while Lance tried watermelon ribs (the were smoked with a watermelon on them...they were actually really good!). There's some good Southern eatin' for ya.

More of Katie's Photos

These photos are from June. Isaac was about 4 months old.

I'm not sure why I haven't posted these yet...I did the same thing with photos I took of people that came to see Isaac at the hospital. Our friend, Katie, took these for us. We met at 6 am to try to beat the sunlight, and I think it was the vernal equinox because we still got direct sunlight. I can't believe we were all looking at the camera in a picture...it's a miracle. Katie actually came over and took family photos of us a few weeks before this, but it was SOOO hot and sunny outside and I think Lance and I mostly ended up looking like dweebs in the photos...the boys were cranky in the heat, too. There were some cute ones of Isaac, though...I'll post them in a minute.

Binky Man

Isaac has recently become very fond of his binky. He could never quite manage to keep it in in months past, but now he is a binky pro. He doesn't always want to suck on it, as you can see, but it does the job of "pacifying" pretty well, whether or not he uses it how it was intended.

Isaac continues to be more fun as he learns new things. Lance and I love to peek into his crib at night and see what weird position he has gotten himself into, and subsequently fallen asleep in. He luckily likes to play quietly in his crib for a very long time after he wakes up, both in the morning and after naps.

It's been a while since my last post, and time continues to fly...as you all can attest to. In the past few weeks Lance passed his law exam and is officially a licensed pharmacist in the state of Tennessee [and is working his first weekend this weekend :(]. I gave a talk last week in chuch (only the third time in my adult life if you can believe it! We somehow never spoke in our last ward.) We've been to a few outdoor concerts at our local park, made fried corn at the suggestion of our very Southern next door neighbor (and unfortunately both really liked it), went to the Farmer's Market that occurs daily year-round, and Isaac is sick with a cold for the first time (man, it is hard to take care of a sick kid!). All in all, things are going very well and we are enjoying our stay here in Nashville!

6 months old!!

I can't believe it, but Isaac is already 6 months old. He now weighs 17 lbs 7 oz and is 27 inches long. He's come a long way from 6 months ago when he was only 6 lbs 11 oz and 20 inches long. That's pretty impressive to grow 7 inches and gain 10 & 1/2 lbs in a short 6 months. He's rolling over really great now, but isn't convinced that solid food is better than milk. It'll grow on him.
