Merry Christmas!

This is INSIDE the Gaylord Opryland Hotel.  The picture doesn't really do it justice, but it looks like you are outside, but it has multiple ridiculously large atria with beautiful waterfalls and gardens.  If you come and visit us, I will make sure to take you there because it is pretty amazing.  I kind of felt like I was at Disneyland minus the rides and characters.

I'm 10 months old!

Isaac playing with his Little People Nativity set from his Grandma Venita

He is so cute when he sleeps with his little bum up in the air!

Isaac having fun with his toys.  He is just starting to learn how some of them work...it's amazing that they're not all just chew toys!

Isaac is most interested in 'reading' his books right after I neatly stack them all on his bookshelf.  He has so much fun taking everything out of his bins immediately after I put everything away.  I'm guessing it is a while before he changes from 'destroy' mode to 'create' mode...if he ever does.

Trouble Maker

Here is my little trouble maker...the funny thing is that I was actually in his room when he did this. Sometimes he wants to get up so early that I go sleep on his floor while he plays with his toys. That way we are both happy...I'm getting more sleep and he gets to play with his toys with mommy in the room (he is a little attached these days).

Isaac says hi?

It's hard to tell if Isaac really says anything yet.  I'm pretty sure he can say 'hi' and probably can say 'more', but outside of that I'm pretty sure he's just babbling.  He'll learn those long anticipated 'mama' and 'dada' words soon enough!

SNOW!!!

So, we actually got snow in Nashville. This is the view from out our front door. The funny thing was that the storm was ALL over the news for 2 whole days and they even closed down all of the schools for 2 days after the storm and then another 1/2 day because they were anticipating another 1-4" (although it hasn't actually come yet). Wow. I will say that the roads ARE very icy, but come on...
It has actually been pretty cold here, too.  It has been in the teens and 20s for the last few days.  I had to at least post this after rubbing our toasty hot weather in my family's face on Thanksgiving day.  I think it was less than 20 degrees in Salt Lake City and it was 70 degrees here.  The tables have certainly turned!

Best Birthday Ever!

I think I had my best birthday ever...and it was my last one before the big 3-0. It kind of snuck up on me this year; you're a lot busier when you're a mom! I was going to take Isaac to the dowtown library on the bus, and that was as far as I got with the planning. I woke up at 6:15 am, which is when Lance normally leaves for work, and he was still in bed. I woke him and and told him he had slept in, but he told me he didn't have to be to work until later, so I fell back asleep. After an hour, I woke up again and he was still in bed. "When DO you have to be to work?" I asked. He had fibbed...he was not going to work at all! He took the day off to give ME a day off of being a mommy for my birthday! He cooked a delicious breakfast, then told me I needed to be somewhere at 10:15 am...he had booked a massage and pedicure at Escape Day Spa! It was quite the experience, and VERY relaxing. After 2 hours at the spa I came home, we took Isaac to the park together, I ran errands ALONE (and with a CAR), then he surprised me with reservations at the Bluebird Cafe. It was a great day! Thanks Lance! (and everyone else who made it special with your phone calls, emails, and cards!)

These pictures have nothing to do with my birthday, but here are the latest photos of Isaac.

Isaac has become very proficient at pulling himself up on anything and everything!
Isaac trying to get the camera

My best attempt at capturing Isaac 2 bottom teeth.  One of his top teeth has broken through, and the other is on the verge...it is quite the blister!

Nothing New...

So, there's nothing really new with us. Isaac had his 9 month appt and is now 19.1 lbs, 28.5 inches tall. They don't give me exact percentiles, but he's a pretty average kid (although his growth has slowed due to his picky eatinghabits). We have been enjoying the beautiful Tennessee Fall weather. It was shorts and T-shirt weather all last week. Isaac and ventured downtown on the bus again and had a slightly more successful trip than last time, minus the angry old amputee that yelled at me on the bus, but we at least got home before dark.

9 months old!!

I can't believe how much Isaac has grown!  He is loving to crawl around, pull himself up, and is even trying to climb on things.  He still hates pureed food, but loves crackers and cookies.  He waves at people (and objects that he likes) and does a little babbling.  We sure love him!  (Sorry for the sideways pictures!)

GSNP: Rainbow Falls

This was a pretty steep little hike up to Rainbow Falls. Isaac slept most of the way up, but had to nurse at the top. It was so cold by the waterfalls, but I guess you do what you have to do. He was such a good sport during the whole trip which included a lot of confinement for him (carseats, backpack, etc). Overall it was a great trip!

GSNP: Hiking

We had to walk up an interesting little rock-enclosed stairway on our way up to Alum Cave Bluffs

GSNP Part III: Fall Colors

We enjoyed the Fall colors in the Smokies, and were a little worried about all of the traffic we had heard about in the park during October. We seemed to miss it all though (thanks to our early morning alarm clock named Isaac). I wouldn't have believed the horror stories if I hadn't seen for myself the 5+ mile line of bumper-to-bumper traffic leading to the park entrance. Luckily, we were already on our way home!
